Less than 1,000 seats left for Spirit
game on Sunday
Less than
1,000 tickets remain for San Diego Spirit's historic Inaugural Game
against the Philadelphia Charge on Sunday, April 22. The matchkicks
off at 7 p.m. PT. All Category I and II seats are sold out for the
Inaugural Game. The VIP seats are sold out for the entire season.
However, selected seats still
remain in all but the VIP category for the other 10 Spirit home
games.
Fans arriving
at the University of San Diego will be directed to eight different
parking lots on the USD campus, all of which will be free of charge
and feature a shuttle stop for the quick ride the gates of Torero
Stadium. It will cost $5 to park in the parking structure directly
adjacent to Torero Stadium, but all other lots are free. VIP pass
holders can enter the parking structure at no cost. Fans, especially
fans with tickets at Will Call, are encouraged to arrive early and
take advantage of the "Fun Zone" in Eagan Plaza outside of the Jenny
Craig Pavilion that borders the North side of the Torero Stadium.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Fans familiar with Torero Stadium from the last college soccer season
will find a vastly different look as the $2.5 million in renovations,
courtesy of Cox Communications the investor-operator of the Spirit,
have transformed the venue into one of the finest soccer stadiums
in the United States. Fans will be immersed in an intimate and electric
atmosphere as the sunken field allows spectators to practically
look straight down on the players.
The work on the stadium is in its final stages this week as workerscomplete
this "field of dreams" to host the historic first ever women's professional
soccer match in San Diego. The Spirit was unable to erect the West
bleachers due to easement issues. This last-minute adjustment caused
the Spirit to lose 867 seats, dropping the capacity down to around
6,200 and making it imperative for fans who want to guarantee a
seat for the opening game to order in advance.
Fans who want
to purchase season tickets or group tickets can call 1-877-4SOCCER.
For individual game tickets, please go to any Ticketmaster outlet.
The ticket and will call booths will open at 10 a.m. on the morning
of the match so fans can purchase or pick up tickets prior to the
game.Individual game tickets for future games will also be available
until 10p.m. on Sunday night at the Torero Stadium ticket windows.
