With
the usual intensive
leadership from Milbret,t New York went ahead just before the end
of the first half with Espeseth’s first
goal in WUSA. Controversial because of the positioning of a couple
of New York players in front of the Freedom keeper, but a superbly
placed goal through
the legs of defenders and to the far corner. In the second
half Milbrett’s
continuous efforts were
rewarded when Pearman drew the defense away, and then put through
a perfectly placed ball for Milbrett to run
onto and drive in at the far post to give her team a little
breathing room .It put New York
in the playoffs and
kept Milbrett on top of the WUSA league scoring table.
