WUSA will operate the Division 1 Women's Professional Outdoor Soccer League in the United States as MLS opts not to file an application

WUSA Chairman John S. Hendricks and MIS Commissioner announced that they have come to a co-operative agreement that will provide a coordination marketing, scheduling, and stadia development. MLS has decided not to file a competing application with U.S. Soccer.

On Wednesday May, 24th WUSA will announce the allocation of its founding players (members of the 1999 World Cup Champion Team) to the initial team markets, Atlanta, Boston, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington D.C.
