Maren
Meinert is WUSA's Most Valuable Player for the 2003 season
In 2003 she
won winning the Hyundai All-Star Game Most Valuable Player award
and the league's Most Valuable Player honor for her regular season
performance.
She has been
a long time member of the Germany National Team, and is retiring
after three seasons of playing in WUSA to spend more time with
her husband. Her self determined absence from Germany's roster
in the upcoming World Cup will produce a sigh of relief for many
of the top teams particicpating.
Meinert is
tied for the WUSA's all-time scoring lead (81 pts.) with Atlanta's
Charmaine Hooper, and her leadership and strong offensive work
on the field played a major part in securing the 2003 WUSA regular
season Championship for the Boston Breakers.
