New
York Power and Boston Breakers to Play an Exhibition Game in Lilly's
hometown-Wilton, CT
The
New York Power and Boston Breakers will play an exhibition match
on Thursday October, 25th. at Memorial Field in Wilton,
CT, at 6 p.m. It will be a homecoming for Boston Breakers midfielder
Kristine Lilly, who grew up in Wilton.
"I
am very excited about playing a WUSA game in my hometown of Wilton.
Anytime you can give back to a community you grew up playing in,
it is a great thing," said Lilly, who helped the Wilton High
School girls soccer team capture three state titles. "The town
of Wilton has been very supportive of my career and of soccer. I
know that the game will be a big hit in the area and draw fans from
different towns. I know that families and friends in the area have
lost loved ones in the attacks on America, and I think this will
be a great day to remember them and the heroes who have done so
much to help others and our country. Come out to support not only
the WUSA, but our country."
Tickets
will only be sold at the gate and all proceeds will benefit a number
of Wilton families affected by the events of September 11 in New
York City and Washington, D.C.
Players
from both teams will be available for autographs after the game.
The
exhibition game, in Wilton, CT, falls three days before the Power
participate in the Unity Games.
