Christine Latham signs with San Diego Spirit

The Canadian National Team member who recently graduated from the University of Nebraska has been signed by the San Diego Spirit for the 2003 WUSA season.

She holds the Nebraska all time scoring record with 69 goals, and was named NSCAA All-American in each of her last three years there.

A native of Calgary, Alberta she brings an exciting new aspect to the San Diego front line with her aggressive play in front of goal, and her ability to finish.

The 21-year-old Latham has 18 caps with the Canada National Team, and played for four years on their Under-21 National Team.

She is the first Canadian signed by the Spirit.

"This is a tremendous opportunity and I'm going to try to make the most of it," said Latham. "It can be difficult for Canadians to break into the league, but hopefully more will start to get the chance. I've heard great things about San Diego and the stadium and I can't wait for March to come."
