The world's top international soccer playing
mother may make WUSA debut on road trip this weekend
WUSA Founding Player Joy Fawcett travels with the San Diego Spirit
for their East Coast road swing to Philadelphia and Carolina this
weekend. It could be her first time for the Spirit although it has
not certain that she will play in either match. Fawcett gave birth
to her third daughter Madilyn Rae this year on June 5. She played
competitively in a match with the U.S. National Team on November
11, 2000 against the Canada. Fawcett has been cleared to play by
team doctors and has been training with the team since being activated
on June 26. Fawcett is expected to make her home debut in a nationally
televised match on July 29 against the Atlanta Beat.
