Lauren
Gregg appointed by WUSA as Vice President of Player Personnel and
Technical Director
Lauren Gregg most recently served as the Assistant Coach of the
U.S. Women's National Soccer Team. She began her tenure with the
National Team in 1989 and helped lead the squad to a pair of World
Cup victories (1991 & 1999) and the 1996 Olympic Gold Medal. She
also served as the Head Coach of the USA U-21 Women's National Team,
which won the Nordic Cup (considered the unofficial world championship
for women under 21) in both 1997 & 1999. From 1986-95 Gregg served
as the women's soccer head coach at the University of Virginia and
led the Cavaliers to eight NCAA trips and the 1991 Final Four. Gregg
was named the NCAA Coach of the Year in 1991.
Gregg was
named to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports
this past spring, is also on the Governor's Council of the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America and is the spokesperson for
the Smoke Free Soccer program sponsored by the US Department of
Health and Human Services. She is the author of The Champion Within,
Training for Excellence, and also serves as the soccer site director
for AllCoach.com. Gregg received her B.A. from the University of
North Carolina and her M.A. in Education from Harvard University
