China National Team veteran Bai Jie joins Washington Freedom roster

Defender Bai Jie has played more than 50 games for China's National Team including their final game against the USA in the 1999 Women's World Cup.


The Freedom had been holding a final spot on the player roster for a "discovery" player, defined as a player not previously identified by the league during the draft process. To date, Bai has signed a one-year contract with the WUSA and her club team, Guangzhou Army, signed a release agreement. Jie is 5'4" and was born March 28th, 1972 in Hebei, China.
