Game

With Boston losing three of their foreign players to National Team duty at home they played a quite different lineup. The first half the Breakers appeared to be attempting to bottle up the Freedom's potent scoring players by offering little organized attack, although they were lucky that the referee elected to overlook a rather obvious foul on Prethina in the penalty box. It worked for them mainly because of the many overhit service balls from the midfield by Washington, The Freedom were probably having difficulty adjusting to the faster surface of the Boston artificial field.

The second half was tedious until Lilly's magnificent dipping go ahead goal brought the game alive. There was more action in the last twenty minutes to excite the home crowd as Hamm hit the crossbar and Ducar played one of her best games seen so far. Boston hung on for their first win at home.
