WUSA
to sponsor Discovery Health Channel Women's Soccer Challenge 12
game indoor soccer tour
WUSA has signed
on as the first Associate Sponsor of The Discovery Health Channel
Women's Soccer Challenge, a post-Olympics 12-game women's indoor
soccer tour, that will visit seven of the eight WUSA markets. SFX
Sports Group's Events Division, in conjunction with the Family Entertainment
Division is producing and promoting the Tour. The tour features
eligible members of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team, and members of the
1999 U.S. World Cup Team competing against a team of international
all-stars. The U.S. stars scheduled to compete include WUSA founding
players: Brandi Chastain, Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm, Kristine
Lilly, and Carla Overbeck, as well as some of the sport's newest
marquee names.
WUSA expects
to be announcing foreign player allocations, appointments of team
head coaches, sponsorship deals, personnel announcements, a league
player draft and individual team names and logos in the next few
months.
