Charge plan to add to their roster at first-ever WUSA Combine and
Draft
The Philadelphia
Charge will bolster their roster for the inaugural Women's United
Soccer Association season at the first-ever WUSA Combine & Draft,
which begins this Monday, December 4, in Boca Raton, Floridaa.
Charge contingent
that along with the other teams will scout the 170 + invited players
from December 5-9. The draft will take place from Dec.10 11, as
12-15 players are expected to be chosen by each team.
"When drafting
players, you try to pick the best available athletes who are capable
of playing within your system. Next week, we will be looking for
technically sound players who can fit into our ball-control style
of attack," said Krikorian, who was named Charge head coach on Nov.
20Th. After compiling a 75-30-3 record as women's soccer coach at
the University of Hartford. "All these players have been invited
to the combine, so they are high quality. It's just a matter of
selecting those who will be a good match."
The Charge
draft picks will join Philadelphia's three previously allocated
players - midfielder Lorrie Fair, goalkeeper Saskia Webber (Rutgers
University) and forward Mandy Clemens. The team also added high-scoring
English forward Kelly Smith (Seton Hall University) and German defender
Doris Fitschen in the league's Foreign Player Allocation Draft.
