Philadelphia Charge latest news
Doris Fitschen
is on
her way back to Philadelphia after helping Germany win its capture
its third straight UEFA Championship.
Kelly Smith
returns to the lineup on Saturday after playing in three matches
for England in the same UEFA Championships.
Lorrie
Fair is backafter playing for the the U.S. National Team in
last week's Independence Day Series against Canada.
Charge
mascot Electra celebrates her birthday at Philadelphia's next
home match this Friday at 7:05 p.m. vs. the San Diego Spirit. Several
area mascots will be on hand to present Electra a special birthday
card before the game and entertain throughout the contest. Acuvue
is the game sponsor and will be distributing cheer sticks to the
first 5,000 people in attendance. Fans can also bring their decoder
game pieces they receive at the gate to the Acuvue booth in the
Fan Zone to see if they win autographed prizes or a trip to the
WUSA Championship Game. Friday will be the Charge's third Youth
Soccer Night, as area youth teams receive $5 discounts for $20 and
$15 seats.
San Diego Spirit goalkeeper Jaime Pagliarulo will be returning
to her home state for the first time as a member of the WUSA this
Friday. She was a two-time Parade All-America selection at Hershey
(Pa.) High School before going to George Mason University. She recently
made her third appearance with the U.S. National Team in one of
the two-game Independence Day Series.
Tietjen
vs. Tietjen
Jennifer Tietjen's
twin sister Margaret plays for the Spirit. The duo shared New York
State Player of the Year honors after leading Huntington High School
to a No. 1 ranking in the nation and the state title as seniors.
They played together at the University of Connecticut and for the
Long Island Lady Riders of the W-League.
TV Schedule
Comcast SportsNet and CN8, the Comcast Network, are televising nine
Philadelphia Charge games this season. CN8's next broadcast will
be this Friday vs. San Diego, while SportsNet's next game is Thursday,
July 19 vs. Boston.
