Philadelphia Charge lose Olafsdottir for the semifinals

The Charge will be without midfielder Margret Olafsdottir for this Saturday's semifinal game, as she is on her way home to Iceland to re-join her National Team for a 2003 Women's World Cup Qualifier against Russia the same day. Olafsdottir has been a mainstay on Iceland's National Team since 1993, scoring seven goals in 43 matches.

Midfielder Rakel Karvelsson, who has 10 caps with the Icelandic National Team has opted to remain with the Charge for the semifinals. She grew up in nearby Peachtree City, Ga., where she led McIntosh High School to the state championship in each of her last three seasons. She was a three-time All-State selection and finished with 73 goals and 42 assists during her high school career. Karvelsson also led the Lightning Soccer Club in Atlanta to two state club championships and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1995 state club tournament.when she was taken out with a sprained right foot in the 87th minute.
