Nine Philadelphia Charge matches will
be televised locally on Comcast SportsNet and CN8, the Comcast Network.
The nine-game
schedule begins with the home opener on Sunday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m.,
when Comcast SportsNet airs a showdown between the Charge and Bay
Area CyberRays, featuring Brandi Chastain. CN8's first telecast
will come a week later, when the Charge travel to take on Tiffeny
Milbrett and the New York Power on Sunday, May 13 at 6:00 p.m.
The broadcast
team will be headed up by CN8 Sports Anchor Lou Tilley, one of Philadelphia's
best-known sports figures. With over 22 years of broadcast experience,
Tilley received five Emmy Awards for sportscasting w hile at KYW-TV
in Philadelphia and was named the Associated Press' "Best in State"
three times. Tilley is the host of Lou Tilley's Sports Connection,
a one-hour wrap-up show that airs weeknights at 11:00 p.m. on CN8.
Most recently, Tilley was the television play-by-play announcer
for the Philadelphia KiXX of the National Professional Soccer League.
Tilley's partner
for KiXX games, Jim Harrison, will also provide color commentary
for the Charge matches. Harrison is no stranger to the women's game,
having served as assistant women's soccer coach at Seton Hall University
when the Charge's Kelly Smith led the NCAA in scoring, and done
color commentary for the Lady Stallions of the W League. He has
also announced games for ESPN International and served as public
address announcer for the New York-New Jersey MetroStars of MLS.
Harrison has spent the last 12 years working for New Jersey Youth
Soccer and played
professionally for Nor' East United of what is now called the A-League.
Popular Philadelphia
Flyers and 76ers sideline reporter Dei Lynam rounds out the Charge
broadcast team. Lynam, who served as sports anchor for the ABC affiliate
in Cincinnati prior to joining Comcast SportsNet, has also worked
as a reporter for a variety of other events including TNT's NBA
playoff coverage, the 1999 and 2000 Goodwill Games and the 1999
National Figure Skating Championships. She and her father, Jim Lynam
(former 76ers coach), made sports television history in 1998 as
the first father-daughter announcing team to work an NBA telecast
together. On March 20, 1998, Lynam was the sideline reporter for
the Utah Jazz vs. 76ers game and her father handled the color commentating.
