Washington
Freedom defender Bai Jie has been named the WUSA Player of week
11
Chinese National Team defender Bai Jie
becomes the first defensive field player to be named for that honor.
Bai tallied one goal and one assist in the Washington Freedom win
against the Carolina Courage Saturday, June 30th at RFK Stadium.
The game was part of the second WUSA/MLS double header season for
the Freedom and DC United and drew a crowd of 30,271. As special
players often do, Bai rose to the occasion at a time when three
Freedom starters were absent to fulfill national team duties (Hamm,
Mullinix, French).
