Tony DiCicco appointed to membership of the FIFA Panel of Instructors and Lecturers for Coaching

Former U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach and current WUSA Commissioner Tony DiCicco has been appointed as a member of the FIFA Panel of Instructors and Lecturers for Coaching, effective Jan. 1, 2002.

DiCicco, who compiled 103-8-8 record as head coach of the USA from 1994-1999, lead the USA to the 1996 Olympic gold medal and the 1999 Women's World Cup championship,.and a third-place finish at 1995 Women's World Cup.

DiCicco will be in involved in supplying direction for the technical development of the women's game in emerging countries. He will also add insight into a number of initiatives, including rules and the coordination of the international women's soccer calendar.

He will also focus on the growth of women's soccer worldwide, provide curriculum for coaching education, as well as running clinics and coaching sessions himself on behalf of FIFA.

"I'm honored to be offered this position by FIFA," said DiCicco. "It's a great opportunity to advance the coaching and assist in the direction of the women's game. It's been a wonderful last 11 years and I've seen the dramatic evolution of the women's game since the 1991 Women's World Cup. The greatest growth is still ahead of us and I am honored to be a part of that."
