Marinette Pichon hangs up her international boots

Pichon was not only the all time topscorer for France but in our opinion she and Head Coach Elisabeth Loisel are responsible for the rapid rise in the quality of soccer by the France National Team, and the increased popularity of the women’s game in France.

Pichon’s presence in a game created a scoring threat, and her strength and leadership raised the playing level of every team she played in.

She made 112 appearances for France with 81 goals, and was a top scorer in the now defunct WUSA.

Marinette Pichon will be missed.
