July 28, 2004 NBC's TV schedule raises questions of equal rights for coverage of women's soccer at the 2004 Athens Olympics NBC has released its schedule, and as in previous Olympics it raises several questions. It is covering every appearance by the U.S. National Team, but has added asterisks to the Medal games including the Gold Medal Game with a note that it means "if necessary." Yet NBC suggests that the * "if necessary" means only if the U.S. National Team is playing. While on the other hand, the Medal games for men will be shown even though the U.S. men failed to qualify for the Olympics.
