Marci Miller is new Northern Illinois University Head Coach

While announcing her appointment NIU Athletics Director Jim Phillips said that” we’re extremely excited to have such a great role model for our student-athletes as Marci Miller to lead our women’s soccer program. She is an individual who personifies our goal of providing a world-class experience to student-athletes. Whether it be her illustrious playing resume from the local to the professional and even international arena, or her familiarity and strong recruiting contacts with the many outstanding club programs, to her coaching experiences, Marci has the energy, enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for the game which will help our student-athletes grow. To us, she represents the total package of who we’re looking for to lead our program,”

“Everyone we spoke with gave astonishing recommendations based on her personality, work ethic, and love of the game. Her ties to local high school and club coaches repeatedly reinforced how fortunate we were to have her choose to join our program over other opportunities.”

Marci Miller says that ”I am so very excited to be the next Northern Illinois women’s soccer coach for a number of reasons. First and foremost is the opportunity to work for someone like Jim Phillips, whose passion is contagious and whose vision of athletics is something I deeply believe. No. 2 is the chance to return to my home roots with the opportunity to continue to build a women’s soccer program. In addition, using the support of Jim Phillips and the NIU athletics department to achieve the challenge of Mid-American Conference, regional, and national success.”

A member of the U.S. Under-17 National Team, Miller was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America prep All-America.
Her first national team call-up was in 1997 for a USA match with France in Tampa. She was a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team pool in 1999, and spent one year playing for Turbine Potsdam in the German Bundesliga.

In 2001, Miller became a four-season member of the WUSA professional league finishing with the Atlanta Beat.
