International Olympic Committee (IOC) awards its 2004 Women and Sport Trophy to the FIFA Women's World Cup

It was given during the 3rd, World Conference on Women and Sport organised by the IOC. FIFA was represented by Tina Theune Meyer Germany National Team Head Coach of the 2003 World Champions, and by Sahar El Hawary from Egypt, who is a member of the Committee for Women's Football and FIFA Women's Competitions.

Since 2000 the IOC has been awarding the annual world trophy in recognition of exceptional feats that have contributed to developing, encouraging and intensifying women's and girls' involvement in sport.
