April 20, 2004 Menomonie High School to host the last competitive soccer allowed between Wisconsin and Minnesota teams For further information call Dave Morris, UW-Stout Soccer--715-440-0017 or go to #http://www.uwstout.edu/athletics/morrisd/bluedevilinvite.html Menomonie High School is hosting what will be the FINAL competition in girls soccer between Wisconsin high schools and Minnesota teams (due to a WIAA rule change that will ban high schools from playing club teams beginning next fall). Matches will be played at UW-Stout and the Blue Devil soccer program is a partner in building a celebration of youth soccer on Nelson Field and the UW-Stout Recreation and Athletic Complex.
The Blue Devil Invitational by the numbers . . . 1 the number of times 12 of the top high school and club teams in Minnesota and Wisconsin have been gathered together in one event. 2 the number of MYSA Premier club teams competing (St. Paul Blackhawks and Woodbury Rampage) 3 the number of state tournament teams from 2003 competing in two different flights (Madison West, Appleton Xavier, and Eau Claire Memorial). Lakeland lost to Eau Claire Memorial in the sectional final, while the Indians of Menomonie went out to the Old Abes in the regional final. 4 teams in each tournament ³cup² flight 8 returning starters for Menomonie High School 12 the number of teams in west Wisconsinıs largest high school tournament
