Mia Hamm ranked 5th in the list of 50 Most Popular athletes in DC Sports History in SportsFan Magazine

SportsFan Magazine, a quarterly publication based out of Washington DC, published a list of the 50 Most Popular athletes in DC Sports History in its Winter 2002 issue. Washington Freedom's Mia Hamm was ranked 5th in the list. She was the highest ranking female athlete and topped such big names as NBA legend Wes Unseld, NHL Hall of Famer Rod Langway and the one and only Michael Jordan.
