WPSL Philadelphia Pirates to bring top level women's soccer back to Philadelphia

Owner and CEO, David Jones of the newest WPSL franchise Philadelphia Pirates said "I feel that Philadelphia is crying out for the opportunity to get behind and support a high level women's franchise once again. This area needs and demands sporting excellence in every area and we feel that we can now meet the demand for this with local college and high school players. This allows all the female youth players within the Tri-State area the opportunity to see, appreciate and support a team that one day they may also be able to aspire to."

Joining the club for the 2005 season.

Marieke van Tienhoven (previously NJ Wildcats), La Salle University starters Erin McNulty (Jersey Banshees), Jenna Guagenti, Kristen Hextall and Alexis Petrucci (all South Jersey high school standouts), and Erin Hardiman, Alicia Hall, Gwen Conte and Sarah Buonomo (Council Rock High School, Philadelphia).

The Head Coach will be Eddie Leigh from Philadelphia.

Home games will be layed at Rutgers Camden University soccer field. Sponsorship opportunities are available in many areas such as Game Day, Ball and Uniform sponsorships as well as the opportunity within a game day program and halftime events for local companies to really become part of the whole community experience.
