Top level international coach Hank Leung to lead the newest WPSL team Michigan Phoenix

The first WPSL team from Michigan has acquired Hank Leung, one of the best ever coaches of the women’s game, to lead them.

He was the National Coach of the U.S. Under-19 National Team playing in Minnesota in 1987. That team included future stars like Julie Foudy, Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Carla (Werden) Overbeck, Joy (Biefeld) Fawcett and Tracey Bates.

Hank Leung moved with them to the National Team as the Assistant Coach to Head Coach Anson Dorrance. Together they were to lay the foundation of the U.S. National Team that led to winning the first FIFA World Championship in 1991.
