Today FIFA decided to move the 2003 Women's World Cup away from China

The FIFA Executive committee meeting today decided to relocate the venue for the 2003 World Cup because of the SARS epidemic in China. They reported that both the USA and Australia have indicated a willingness to stage the event. They also announced that the 2007 World Cup would be staged in China.

Although they spoke of attempting to hold it at about the same time as originally planned, it seems that there could be a problem for both countries in finding suitable stadiums available at that time.
