U.S. Under-15 Girls' National Developmental Team debuts

The under-15 developmental team will become part of the U.S. National Team program. It will begin with a camp at the Home Depot Center from March 6-13, 2004. There will be three training camps from March to July run by Stephanie Gabbert, the U.S. Womenıs National Staff Coach for Region II. Approximately 24 players born in 1989 will be invited each time. The emphasis will be on development and training.

U.S. National Team head coach and technical director April Heinrichs says that it is intended to meet the needs of a critical developmental age by exposing the players to the demands and benefits of being involved in a national team training environment. She believes that it is important to expose as many players as possible, and feels that they will bridge the gap between the U-14 National Camp, held in August each year, and the U-16 National Team.
