January 21, 2003 U.S. National Team in Shanghai The U.S. National Team arrived in Shanghai, China last Friday evening. Shanghai is China's second largest City and is definitely its liveliest. It has recaptured some of the atmosphere of its earlier days with its teeming nightlife among a mixture of ancient and modern structures. The teams's hotel is in the center of the cit, and they practiced on Saturday on one of the ten practice fields of First Division Shenhua FC. On Sunday the temperature dropped to mid-30°F when they practiced at a superb privately owned pitch. The team is quickly becoming acclimated to the 13-hour time change from the East Coast. After four days in Shanghai the U.S. Team will travel about four hours South to Yiwu on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 21st, and play Norway to open the tournament on Thursday, January 23, at the Meihu Sports Center. | COMMENTARY | US
