Jenny Benson replaces Danielle Slaton in U.S. National Team Gold Cup roster

Danielle Slaton will undergo arthroscopic surgery on her right knee on Thursday to correct a cartilage problem. Recovery is expected to take three-to-four months, and she should be ready for U.S. National Team action early next year

Slaton, who has started all 11 of the matches she has played this year for the USA, was originally going to have the surgery after the Women's Gold Cup, which is serving as the USA's Women's World Cup qualifying tournament, but elected to have the procedure sooner than later. Her in the lead up to the 2003 WUSA season and the 2003 Women's World Cup in China.

Benson, 24, has three caps for the full national team, making her first ever start for the USA in September against Scotland.
