Game The U.S. squad controlled the game and Woznuk playing in her first match of the competition set the standard with her two goals, with sixteen year old Orand scoring early.
Post game quote U.S. head coach Mark Krikornian
Angie Woznuk brings a little creativity and magic into the game for us. She was pretty good today. She can move the ball very well and she's a couple of passes ahead of the game. She sees thing sooner than most players, she can find the seams and has the qualities of making the final pass and finishing, so those are pretty good qualities.
The tournament is a building process for us. As I said the other day, this tournament was about evaluation and making sure than when we get to Canada, that we have explored all of the possibilities we have and I would say as a staff that we have a pretty good handle on who can do what. We are pretty certain that defending will be a big strength for us. Even against the Japanese when they were all over us, we didn't give up a lot of dangerous chances, so I think with (goalkeeper) Ashlyn (Harris) and our back line that we are going to be pretty solid in that area.
You always want to have more time and the opportunity to train the players, but I am comfortable right now that I know the qualities of the players, who can play with who and which partnerships work the best.
