March 22, 2004 U.S. Under-21 National Team dominate Shanghai SVA in China By Jia Ailing
The U.S. Under-21 National Team dominated Shanghai SVA in its first match of China Tour and came away with a 4-0 victory.
The Americans got three goals in the first half from Kelly Wilson, Joanna Lohman and Sara and sealed their 4-0 victory in the 58th minute.
"The visitors are stronger than us," said Shanghai SVA head coach Lin Zhihua, "Although I sent on six veterans, the U.S. Under-21 controlled the match. They taught us a lesson. But if the team had nine national team players, maybe we could defeated them."
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 2nd minute with Kelly Wilson's goal and only ten minutes later, Joanna Lohman maintained their advantage goal with a free-kick.
The U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team will play two matches against China Youth Team and China National Team in Huaian, Jiangsu province on March 25th. and 28th.
