Post match quotes

U.S. head coach Mark Krikorian

We are looking at this tournament in a lot of different ways. Of course you always want to win, but we are looking at it as preparation and evaluation for CONCACAF Qualifying. We're going to give everyone a chance to play over the next couple of games. We'll go back and look at the tape, we'll assess some of the things we saw and start to draw conclusions because the next roster we choose is the big roster.

It was a pretty good performance against the Netherlands. We had a good last camp where we did a lot of work on positioning and team defending and I think that showed through tonight. Our back four was very solid and we didn't give up many chances. We also had a lot of different dynamic ways to attack, sometimes with the long ball, sometimes through combinations and sometimes with the dribble through Sheree (Gray).

The transition wasn't quite good enough, especially from attack to defense. When we attack sometimes, we sometimes forget that there might be a counter-attack coming and we just throw numbers forward. We have to do a better job of defending the counter while we are in the attack. We know we have a lot of different types of different talent and right now it's about figuring out how to get that talent on the field playing together. If we can do that, we'll be alright.

Defensive midfielder Yael Averbuch has done a great job. She's a very good distributor of the ball. She can hit 40-50 year ball with her left and right foot sending people in and she's great on free kicks. Yael has established herself as an important player on the team.

Defender Rachel Buehler, a veteran of the USA's 2002 U-19 World Championship Team,

did a great job. She's hard, she's tough, she's mean and her distribution was quite good. We played her on the left side and she's a right-sided player, and we know she can play in the middle, so her versatility is an added quality for us.
