February 13, 2001 Kansas City, South Jersey and Texas named as new W-League clubs Its inaugural season in Dallas will be as a member of the W-1 Western Conference. South Jersey Banshees The new club will participate in the W-2 Eastern Conference. "The formation of the women's team fulfills our pledge to provide a means to develop all South Jersey soccer players at the highest level possible," said Barons President Cliff Simmons. "It has been our intent since the Barons were established in 1996 to add a W-League team. This will create a top-tiered team for South Jersey girls and women to shoot for and a vehicle for elite players to use to get to the Women's United Soccer Association." Kansas City Mystics
