Kansas City, South Jersey and Texas named as new W-League clubs

Texas Odyssey

Its inaugural season in Dallas will be as a member of the W-1 Western Conference.

South Jersey Banshees

The new club will participate in the W-2 Eastern Conference. "The formation of the women's team fulfills our pledge to provide a means to develop all South Jersey soccer players at the highest level possible," said Barons President Cliff Simmons. "It has been our intent since the Barons were established in 1996 to add a W-League team. This will create a top-tiered team for South Jersey girls and women to shoot for and a vehicle for elite players to use to get to the Women's United Soccer Association."

Kansas City Mystics
They will make their debut in the W-League in 2001. Scoop Stanisic will be the general manager. The Mystics will be playing at Blue Valley District Stadium in Overland Park, Kan. and will play host to a few doubleheaders with the two teams playing on separate fields.
