Hampton Roads Pirhanas sign Christie Welsh

Christie Welsh has signed to play in the 2004 season. She had previously prayed for the Piranhas in 2001. "I really enjoyed my past experience with the Piranhas," said Welsh. "They have always had a very talented team, good staff and management, and great support from the community. I wanted to be a part of that family again."

Welsh won the prestigious Herman Trophy and was named Collegiate Player of the Year in 2001. Last year she played for the WUSA team New York Power and finished second in scoring with six goals and 12 points. Welsh has 12 goals and 4 assists with the U.S. National Team.
