Springfield 5,
Laval 0 Finnish international Tiina Saario (Helsinki, Finland) helped the Springfield Sirens sink the Laval Dynamites registering five points (1 goal, 3 assists) which included the eventual gamewinner in just the second minute of the contest. After missing both games on last weekend's Canadian road trip to take her SAT test, Saario stepped up for her summer team right after the opening whistle. Lizie Pilicy (Beverly,
MA) sent in a cross from the right flank and the 19-year old from Helsinki,
Finland received the corresponding header from Martha Conover (Liverpool,
NY). The U-21 Finnish National Team member took the shot from just outside
the penalty area, beating Laval goalkeeper Genevieve Reid. With her goal
holding up for the full 90 minutes, the Sirens are now undefeated 7-0
in the Northern Conference of the W-1 League. Saario assisted on the next
three goals for Springfield.
