January 16, 2003 W-League Piranhas' Matilda Kelly Golebiowski waltzes off to WUSA Australian National Team member Golebiowski who has twice been the Hampton Roads Piranhas leading scorer has signed with the Washington Freedom. She was named the W-League Rookie of the Year in 2001, and First Team All Atlantic in 2002. Golebiowski finished the 2002 playoffs ranked #1 with 3 goals and 4 assists for 10 points in 3 games. She is just one of the many former Pirhana players now playing in WUSA and joins forwards Mia Hamm and Pretinha in the Freedom squad. As one of the original W-League teams, the Piranhas wrapped up their 8th season with a 10-5-1 record, and advanced to the third round of the W-League playoffs. Piranhašs alumni currently include players on the United States, Australian, Canadian, and Nigerian national team rosters, as well as 5 of the 8 WUSA clubs. The Piranhas start their 2003 season May 3rd playing the Twisters in Greensboro N.C.
