Hampton Roads Piranhas to host 2001 W-1 National Championship final four tournament

The Soccer Post W1 National Championship Tournament will take place at the beautiful Virginia Beach Sportsplex August 16-19. The Soccer Post, located in Lynnhaven North shopping center in Virginia Beach, has signed on as the presenting sponsor.

The tournament consists of four games, with the championship match being played Saturday night, August 18th. The tournament will feature the three regular season conference winners, and the host team Piranhas.

Tickets for the tournament will be sold as a weekend pass, that includes admission to all 4 games at the Sportsplex, and most special events taking place over the weekend. Special events include the ACS Systems and Engineering W-1 Awards Banquet & Sports Auction. The auction portion of this event will be open to all ticket holders, and will include autographed sports memorabilia from star athletes such as Mia Hamm. Tickets to the awards banquet will be sold separately. A youth soccer clinic, presented by players from all four teams, will be included with a weekend pass. Piranhas season ticket holders will have first priority to purchase tickets, with sales being open to the public starting July 1, 2001. Tickets cost $12 in advance and $15 at the gate.

Hampton Roads is currently in a tight battle for first place in the eastern conference with the Maryland Pride, who come to town for what should be a great match Saturday, June 16th. Game time is 7pm and tickets are available at the Sportsplex gate for $6.
