TEAMS 2001 SCHEDULE STANDINGS RESULTS

July 6, 2001

U.S. Soccer Hall Of Fame chose Springfield as one of the hosts to display the actual Women's World Cup trophy at one of their home games

Sirens fans will have a chance to see and admire the Women's World Cup when it is displayed for all of its fans at the Sirens home match on Saturday, July 28th at 7:30 pm against the New York Magic.

"We feel extremely honored to have been chosen to host the highest award given in women's soccer in not just this country, but the world," Springfield general Manager Dianne Fabrocini-Kopec said. "This honor from the Hall Of Fame will give our fans the opportunity to see the Women's World Cup trophy up close and personal. This is the symbol of what all young soccer players all over the world are working towards."

With stops for the New York Power (W-USA), the Boston Breakers (W-USA) and the Philadelphia Charge (W-USA) also being included, Springfield is the only United Soccer League team that has been chosen to be a part of this four-city tour. In exchange, the Sirens will give the Hall Of Fame an autographed 2001 Sirens game jersey to be displayed at the Hall in Oneonta, NY.

The Hall Of Fame wants to recognize Springfield as the first high-level women's soccer team to compete in uniforms solely designed for women. The Sirens new uniforms were designed by GREX/DesignWorks of Ludlow, MA.
