The Wake Forest Demon Deacons unveils its 2002 fall schedule

Their ninth year of competition opens at the Florida State Nike Invitational August 30th. -September 1st at Tallahassee, FL. They will play 11 regular season matches at home in Spry Stadium, beginning with Georgia on September 6th. Opponents will include 11 teams that participated in the NCAA Tournament last year.

The Fifth Annual Wake Forest Nike Tournament with Vanderbilt, California and Loyola Marymount will take place on September 13th. and 15th. Afterwards Wake Forest goes to to play at California on October 4th. and at Sacramento State on October 6th., closing out its regular season with four home matches. Colorado College (October 20th.), Virginia (October 26th.), North Carolina (October 30th.) and Duke (November 2nd.). They go back to Tallahassee (November 7,8 & 10th.) for the ACC Championship.

Seventeen letterwinners, including eight starters, return.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons finished 9-9-2 overall and 3-4-0 in the ACC a year ago, and hope to extend their streak of six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances to seven this season. The team will be led by senior forward Joline Charlton, senior goalkeeper Erin Regan and junior defender A.B. Robbins.
