North Carolina overwhelms Washington in Carolina-Nike Classic final

Lindsay Tarpley and Alyssa Ramsey both scored as top-ranked North Carolina defeated Washington 5-1 at Fetzer Field, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The win gave UNC the Carolina-Nike Classic championship.

After 30 minutes Mary McDowel scored the first North Carolina goal and by halftime UNC had increased their lead to 3-0 when Tarpley scored on a header, and Kendall Fletcher followed almost immediately with another.
Ten minutes after the start of the second half Sara Randolph added another and less than ten minutes later Ramsey converted a one-on-one breakaway with Brookens.

Washington meets Denver on Friday, September 13th. and Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, September 15th.
