Jamie Norwood is Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week

University of Denver junior defender Jamie Norwood (Littleton, Colorado.) is the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. She is the first Pioneer to win the award this season. Her three point performance last weekend in Denver's back-to-back 1-1 ties against Arizona State and San Diego earned her the award. She assisted on the game-tying goal last Friday against the Sun Devils and scored Denver's only goal against the Toreros on Sunday. Norwood, with her assist last weekend, moved into sole possession of fourth place on Denver's all-time assist list with 19 career helpers. She is just two shy of second place (Becky Cannon, 21).

Denver puts its three-game unbeaten streak on the line this weekend when they travel to compete in the Nike Portland Invitational. The Pioneers, competing in their first-ever Invitational, will battle No. 16 Washington on Friday (Sept. 13) and No. 17 Portland on Sunday (Sept. 15). Kick off for both the matches is slated for 4 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. mountain time, respectively.
