The game was played where Washington was scheduled to play Maryland on Friday, but thunderstorms and a tornado warning forced the postponement of the game. It was eventually canceled because Maryland had to travel to Florida on Saturday for an Atlantic Coast Conference game at Miami on Sunday.

Washington¹s starting goalkeeper Kelsey Rasmussen suffered a leg infection believed to be caused Wednesday by a spider bite. She healed sufficiently to play and registered four saves in an outstanding performance.

Post game comments by Washington Head Coach Lesle Gallimore

Having been off so long and being back here without playing the first game, we started a little slowGetting a goal in the first half was key, but we didn¹t put them away early like we could have. I was proud of how we came out in the second half and got some goals. We were able to play a lot of people and a lot of people contributed. Loyola is a solid team that won their conference and played in the NCAA Tournament last season. They have given a lot of top teams really tough games.

Washington plays at Portland State on Friday, September 24th. and at Portland on Sunday, September 26th.
