November 7, 2003 Erin Showalter is Atlantic-10 Defensive Player of the Year as five other team members are honored Dayton senior defender Erin Showalter from Brunswick High School, Ohio She was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Year for the second time (previously in 2001) spearheading a Dayton defense that had seven shutouts, and is a three-time First Team All-Conference selection. Showalter is tied for fifth on the team in scoring with eight points. She was joined on the First Team by two other Dayton players. Junior midfielder Tesia Kozlowski from Westerville, Ohio. She is on the First Team for the second consecutive year, after finishing this season with a league-best nine assists(also ties a career-best). She was a Preseason All-Conference selection and the 2001 A-10 Rookie of the Year. Senior midfielder Beth McHugh from Medina, Ohio. Her speed on the outside makes her dangerous midfielder, and she collected six assists this season after posting a career-best seven last year. Her 17 career assists is tied for 10th all-time at Dayton. Second Team selection Sophomore forward Reba Sedlacek from Badin High School Hamilton, Ohio Sedlacek was selected to the Second Team as an A-10 All-Rookie selection last season. She ended the regular season as the team's leading scorer with 7 goals, and 5 assists against conference opponents. Her first career hat-trick came against Temple that with two assists against St. Joseph's led to her first A-10 Player of the Week award. All-Rookie Team selection Freshmen goalkeeper Sarah West from Downers Grove, Illinois She was a Preseason All-Rookie selection and twice named as A-10 Rookie of the Week. West had the best keeper statistics in the league with 0.73 goals against average, and an 11-2-2 record. In A-10 matches, she was 8-1-1 with a 0.58 GAA. She played made eight saves and played all 110 minutes (her first career complete game) in the 1-1 double overtime tie with No. 6 Virginia. Her 0.73 GAA stands as the second-best single-season performance in Dayton history. Freshman forward Jamie Yates from Duncanville, Texas A Preseason All-Rookie selection, her five goals was third on the team. Yates opened the conference season with four goals in Dayton's first three A-10 matches.
