The Portland Pilots, playing in their third consecutive game of the weekend, showed no signs of fatigue and its forward line struck quickly when FIFA U-19 World Championship MVP/ Golden Shoe player Canadian Christine Sinclair and Wanda Rozwadowska combined for a goal in less than eight minutes. With the match less than a quarter of an hour old, Huie scored to give them a 2-0 lead. Denver was unable to come back and loss control of the midfield with their efforts, it was their first loss of the season.

Next weekend the Denver Pioneers play in the Colorado Classic hosted by the University of Colorado in Boulder. Denver plays Maine on Friday afternoon, September 20th. at 2 p.m. On Sunday morning (September 22nd.) they play Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. mountain time.
