Umea IK wins UEFA Club Champions Cup 2003 easily

With a 3-0 win against Fortuna Hjorring of Denmark in the away leg of the UEFA Club Champions Cup Fnal, UmeaIK of Sweden win 7-1 on aggregate.

Having lost the first final last year to FFC Frankfurt in Germany, Umea avenged that defeat in the semi-finals, although it needed a sudden death penalty shoot-out to get passed the German champions.

It was a double disappointment for fortuna, as they had just lost the Danish title to Brondby IF.. The UEFA final was the last match for keeper Dorte Larsen, who has had a distinguished career for her club and country.

Brondby IF will now enter the third UEFA Champions Cup which will start in August 2003.. Umea IK enter as Swedish champions again.
