Captain Karen Walker scored twice as England came from behind to finish with a 2-2 tie.

England dominated early proceedings but failed to finish numerous early chances. They were made to pay dearly for their missed chances at 42 minutes when against the run of play Iceland went ahead when Olga Faerseth slotted the ball past Rachel Brown, but two minutes later Walker put away a deflected ball for the equaliser.

Iceland took the advantage again at 56 minutes with Erla Hendriksdottir heading home to make it 2-1, and it was left for Walker's equaliser four minutes from time to give England an away-goal advantage into the return leg in six days time. It earned her a bottle of champagne as the Nationwide Player Of The Match and England.

Referee: Katriina Elovirta (Finland)
