Thursday, September 25, 2003

England U-19 beat Ukraine 3-0 on Thursday afternoon as they attempt to qualify for the European Championship Finals. England now have four points from their opening two games in Group B6 after drawing with Scotland earlier this week.

England need to win against against hosts Romania on Saturday to reach the Second Qualifying Stage. The top two teams in each of the nine First Qualifying Stage groups will go forward.

Everton striker Karen Boyle, brought into the squad at late notice because of Aluko's injury, scored two goals and Arsenal winger Emma Thomas added another. The team were in high spirits after the game, with several players earning their first international victory in an England shirt.
