Game

England started well and were 2-0 up within the first half hour. Their momentum was slowed when Italy scored in first half injury time. In the second half it took a while for England to regain control but as the game wore on they went on the attack again. Another long range score by captain Williams in the last minutes of the match cemented the win.

Other

The win meant that England go top place in their group with six points, and became the first team to qualify for the

semi-finals. Germany, the host and defending champions were knocked out after two defeats. England will play their semi-final tie ton Friday, but have to await the outcomes of the last group match day to see who they will face. This is

the second year running that they have reached the semi-final stage.
