England goalkeeper Pauline Cope hangs up her international boots

After sixty appearances for England Cope has decided to retire from the international arena. She is presently developing the women's and girl's soccer program for Charlton Athletic. Cope says that she no longer has the intensity about playing for England that she had in the past, and that made it more difficult to get motivated for matches.

England National Coach Hope Powell said" Pauline has had a long career with England and has enjoyed the opportunity to play against the best teams in the world. It is a shame that she has decided to leave the England set-up, but I understand her reasons and wish her every luck for the future.²

Her retirement is effective immediately.
