China beats Norway and wins 2002 Algarve Cup  

First Place match China 1 Norway 0

Third Place match Sweden 2, Germany 1    

Fifth place match USA 3, Denmark 2                 

Seventh Place match Finland 3, Canada 0         

Ninth Place match    England 4, Scotland 1        

Eleventh Place Match Portugal 4, Wales 0                      

The 3rd place game was a rematch of the 2001 European Women's Final but this time Sweden defeated Germany, 2-1, as Hanna Ljunberg and Malin Andersson scored for their country. It was the first win by the Swedes over the Germans since 1995.

After Canada had defeated its three Group C opponents by a 14-2 margin, they were reminded of the strength of European soccer when Finland the last place team in Group A, gave the young Canadians a lesson winning 3-0 to take 7th place.  

England renewed an old rivalry with Scotland winning 4-1 to take 9th place.

Host Portugal redeemd itself by winning its first match of the tournament, 4-0, over Wales to take 11th place.
